Kodi best streaming Settings
Hi, sure to optimise your Kodi streaming automatically , I recommend using the Configurator for Kodi app. You can find it in download section above. Continue reading if you want to do it manually!
This is one of my favorite Kodi advanced settings for streaming content stored on network storage. Copy the following to advancesettings.xml in Kodi userdata folder
<network> <buffermode>1</buffermode> <!-- Default is 1 --> <cachemembuffersize>52428800</cachemembuffersize> <!-- Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB --> <readbufferfactor>2.0</readbufferfactor> <!-- Default is 1.0 --> </network>
Using Easy Advanced Settings
I you haven’t got this installed from the zip already but have Xunity or Super Repo – you can find it there under both program video addons. Install guide here (link)
Now we will change a few things ;
- Click Edit Settings
- Click Network settings
- Click Network
NOTE: some options have numeric options for you to click and change the number others have DISABLED in already – you must delete the ‘disabled’ word first before adding your setting.
- Click curlclienttimeout – Key in 10 (if you have slow internet use 20)
- Click done
- Click curlowspeedtime – Key 10 (if you have slow internet use 20)
- Click done
- Click buffermode – Key in 2
- Click done
- Click readbufferfactor – Key in 5
- Click done
IMPORTANT I haven’t shown the cachemembuffersize in the image to avoid people just copying it blindly you MUST check your free memory with Kodi loaded. Once you have that number you can calculate as follows;
- 100MB /3 = 33 MB – put YOUR free memory into this equation
- x 1024 = 33,792 KB
- x 1024 = 34,603,008 Bytes
We write the final number in the file without any commas, thus 34603008 – or what yours works out to be! It is important you make this calculation.
- Click cachemembuffersize
- Delete the word “DISABLED”
- Key in your “Bytes” from above – no commas
- Click done
If you just stick some random numbers in there that exceed your device free memory, Kodi could hang, freeze or just crash and kick you out to android/windows/linux screen. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Now back out 3 times to this screen
- Click Write XML File
DONT FORGET TO HIT WRITE FILE BEFORE EXITING!
That’s it for the VoD modifications, this should ease or if you’re lucky eliminate any buffering problems. If your movie buffers you can pause for short time, you’ll see the grey line extending from the blue video line to show how much is buffered.
How to install Kodi on Apple TV 3 and Other Apple devices
Hi peeps! I want to talk about the most up to date, best working jailbreak for Apple TV – all models, 1,2,3,4 AND all other apple devices! Unsure of why you should jailbreak yours? Honestly, there are lots of reasons.
Update: May 05, 2017
Due to the complications in getting a lasting Kodi on apple devices, I firmly believe the much simpler solution is to purchase an android device and set that apart for Kodi. Android devices are very efficient and as low as $30 bucks. With Kodi on android, you will get speedy updates, more support and tutorials and easy setup. I, an iOS user personally think it is not worth the time to constantly loading Kodi on my apple devices. Most free methods to load Kodi to iOS devices will only last a short period, while on android it last forever. Kodi is also on Google Play Store so you will get auto updated when a new version is out.
If you decide to go android, please use my app, Configurator for Kodi to setup your Kodi on android in 1 click. Easy setup with literally no hassle nor migraines. One click does the trick!
Anyway, if you want to continue the struggle with iOS, then please proceed!
After you jailbreak your Apple TV you have the freedom to:
Get Kodi. Say goodbye to cable payments! Stream from tons of new sources, including those that Apple doesn’t want you to know about!
Open and play file types that are unavailable on a non-jailbroken TV, such as .AVI, .MKV and more
Use various USB devices with your ATV
Get more use of your iPhone or iPad by using it as a HD remote control for your Apple TV
Surf the web with a browser on your Apple TV
Quickly download subtitles for all of your favorite movies and shows
Below, I will list solutions that will jailbreak your Apple TV automatically, meaning all you have to do is simply download the software and the program does the rest for you in a matter of a few minutes. The people who created the software keep it up to date to ensure that the latest versions are always available to you. Plus, when you buy the jailbreak for one device, you can jailbreak all of your other iDevices at no additional cost. That means you get to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad, etc. too and you only have to pay for the software once!
All of these sites feature jailbreaks for iPads and iPhones because they are the most popular sellers, but they also have Apple TV jailbreaks! Don’t worry, they are there. The one on the iJailbreakpro site, for example, is hidden at their pricing page.
How the Apple Jailbreaking Process works:
The process is very easy with the solutions I will list. Just install the program on your computer and connect your computer and Apple TV with a USB cord. Let the jailbreak program run on your computer – and that’s it! There are instructions to guide you and customer support is available if you have any questions or get stuck. That’s all there is to it!
If you’re serious about jailbreaking your Apple TV – don’t try to be a hacker and do it all alone. I’ve done it before with the first Apple TV I had and it was a huge hassle. Enough to say that you run the risk of losing all the data on your ATV – including all your apps and history. Using one of the following solutions gives you peace of mind, and it’s guaranteed to work!
The Best Jailbreaks for Apple TV
These are my two top picks, in order.
Number #1- iJailbreakpro (Editor’s top Apple TV jailbreak)
No doubt this is the fastest and best jailbreak software available to jailbreak the Apple TV. The jailbreak takes less than 5 minutes to complete! Not to mention the whole process is completely reversible should you change your mind for any reason, and risk free! I could not ask for more!
I recently used iJailbreakpro to jailbreak the latest generation Apple TV that I just bought AND my old Apple TV, which is now in my son’s room. It was quick and easy and I had no problems with either TV. Plus I did jailbreaks on my iPhone and iPad and didn’t have to pay anything additional. Fantastic bonus there!
iJailbreak Pro really showed me they had great customer support too. I did have one technical question – I just missed something that was in the instructions. I ended up reaching out to customer support. They were really great and answered my question in no time.
I learned a lot from the support staff about how to get the best use of my iDevices. They assured me that they were there to help anytime I needed them. The guy who runs the site really cares about helping people get the maximum enjoyment of their iDevices! Excellent service!
So in the end I got the fastest jailbreak, and awesome customer support. These guys certainly impressed me. And the best part, they provided better service than sites I have used in the past, but I didn’t have to come out of pocket with more money! I rate them 9.5 out of 10. Check out their site here.
Number #2- Jailbreak Unlock
I have used this site a couple of times on older Apple TV ios versions. I can’t wholeheartedly recommend them. The jailbreak does work, but it takes a bit longer, like 15 minutes or so, for the jailbreak to complete. They actually were my top choice before I found iJailbreak Pro, but why go with second best, right?
Using this software did present a couple of concerns for me, mainly:
These guys didn’t seem too up to date on Apple TV. I recently saw that they actually don’t even publish the ATV jailbreak anymore, though the info is still available for members. To me it screams not enough customers or expertise to keep the ATV jailbreak going, and of course that means they may end up not supporting it in the future (like a lot of other sites wound up doing). I wouldn’t want to be stuck without updates for future iOS versions.
Customer support was just not on a level that I would expect. They had a phone number, but when I called I couldn’t get an answer. All I could get was a recording that told me to email them for customer support. Really, I don’t see the point in listing a phone number if it only directs you back to email. And when I did email these guys, it took until late the next day before I ever heard back from them. If I am paying for a service, I want it now, not tomorrow or when you decide to get around to it!
All in all this site isn’t absolutely terrible. The software does work and the directions are simple. They are a decent fallback if iJailbreak Pro is unavailable. I mean, at least it works right? I rate them 7 out of 10.
To Sum it up
Right now these are the only sites doing jailbreaks for the Apple TV. There were others, but they didn’t stick around too long, instead they focused on the more popular jailbreaks for devices such as iPad and iPhone. My favorite Apple TV jailbreak is definitely iJailbreak Pro.
I am extremely happy now that I no longer pay for cable or satellite! An ATV box and internet connection are all I need to enjoy primewire.ag through Kodi on my HDTV!
Thanks for reading and happy jailbreaking!
Auto boot to Kodi Android
Android is great thanks to its versatility and the ability to install the apps you need. However, if you have an Android set-top box or mini PC connected to your TV, you may just want to use it as a media player running Kodi, and clicking on the Kodi icon each time you start your device is not ideal. Luckily, there’s an easy solution to autostart Kodi in Android:
- Install AutoStart – No root in your Android device.
- Run the application and select Kodi as shown below. There’s no need to tick “Show notification at boot-up”, since Kodi will just show in the foreground.
- Done! Next time you restart your device Kodi will run automatically.
Auto boot to Kodi Windows Setup
If you are going to use Kodi for Windows as your primary media center, you probably want your HTPC to boot directly to Kodi with as little distraction as possible. The more your Kodi Media Center functions like an “appliance”, the more seamless your home theater experience will be. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is to replace the default Windows “shell”, which is “explorer.exe”, with a program that will directly launch Kodi in full-screen
Using EventGhost Method
The program “EventGhost” is a very powerful way to manage remote controls, auto-starting of programs, and other macros.
It supports many common remotes out of the box, such as the Microsoft MCE remote, several X10 remotes, the Sony PS3 Bluetooth remote, the ATI Remote Wonder II, USB-UIRT, and the original Xbox DVD remote.
You can use EventGhost to load the plugin for your favorite remote, load the Kodi EventClient plugin, then load Kodi itself.
1.1 Setting up EventGhost
- Download and install the latest EventGhost Beta.
- Right-click and disable any plugins in the right-hand pane that you aren’t using (Winamp, etc.)
- Install the plugin for the remote receiver you wish to use
- (click “add plugin” and select your Remote from the list of “Remote Receivers”)
- Install the Kodi EventClient plugin
- (click “add plugin” and select “Kodi” from the “Program Control” section.
CONFIGURE YOUR REMOTE IN EVENTGHOST
- Press a key on your remote that you would like to cause an action in Kodi.
- Drag the event that shows up in the left-hand pane of EventGhost to the Kodi action that you want in the right-hand pane.
- Repeat for each button that you want to use with Kodi
SET XBMC TO AUTOSTART IN EVENTGHOST
- Under “AutoStart” click “Add Action”
- Under “System”, click “Start Application”
- Filepath to executable should be:
- C:\Program Files\Kodi\Kodi.exe (unless you’ve changed it)
- Command line options are:
- -fs (for full-screen)
- Working Directory is:
- C:\Program Files\Kodi
- Filepath to executable should be:
- Add any other programs you want to start automatically in the same way.
1.2 Preparing your Desktop Background (optional)
You may safely ignore this section if you don’t care what color your screen is when Windows boots up.
CHANGE YOUR DESKTOP BACKGROUND TO BLACK
- right-click on your desktop, and click properties.
- click the “desktop” tab, and set background to “none”
- click the “appearance” tab, click “advanced”, select the item “desktop” and set the color to black.
CHANGE YOUR LOGOFF SCREEN BACKGROUND TO BLACK
- click “Start -> Run” and type “regedit”
- Navigate to the following key:
- In the right pane, double-click “Background”
- In the Edit String dialog box, type “0 0 0” without the quotes (“0 0 0” is RGB for “Black”)
- Click OK
- Close Regedit
1.3 Set Windows to AutoLogin
- Click Start -> Run, and type:
- Uncheck the “Users must enter a username and password to use this computer” check box.
- Click Apply.
- Enter the user name and password you want to be automatically logged-on, and then click OK.
- Click OK again and you’re all done.
- Note: This works in Windows XP/Vista/7
1.4 Set your “Shell” to EventGhost
- click “Start -> Run” and type “regedit”
- Navigate to the following key:
- right-click on “Shell” and rename to “FakeShell” or something similar (so you can restore it later if you wish to)
- right-click in the right-hand pane and select New -> String Value
- name it “Shell”
- double-click Shell and paste the following value (with quotation marks):
- close regedit
- A shortcut to this step is to use InstantSheller and set the “Application to shell” to “C:\Program Files\EventGhost\EventGhost.exe”
- Instead of changing the system wide “Shell” value
you can simply create a new string value “SHELL” inHKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
which will only change the shell for a specific user.
1.5 Notes on EventGhost Method
You can now restart your computer; it should appear to immediately run Kodi and nothing else.
If you need to run other programs, close or minimize Kodi and press <ctrl-shift-esc> to run the task manager. Go to File -> New Task (Run…) and type the name of what you want to run.
ie. cmd for the command prompt
regedit to undo the changes we made earlier
firefox to run firefox
explorer to explore your computer (this won’t bring up the start menu and taskbar)
